Actually I don't wish anyone was dead.
Please keep in mind that you are merely reflecting
your own thought processes. Fairly recently we had
a post on the three most generous "givers" or
"philanthropists" in the world. All were atheists.
So, may I suggest that you are just projecting
the negativity inside yourself onto a group of
people who in no way think the way you do.
May I also suggest that the self hatred you have
identified is indeed there, but is in yourself, and
certainly not in myself.
I, for one, do try to improve conditions around
me. I give at least ten percent of my income
to various charities - usually not church based.
It is important to give back to society, to
community. And, to finish off, I really do think
you are right that Deism will probably prevail
over Atheism, but not from the reasons you
give. I think it will prevail because Deism does
not require any self confrontation. It merely
requires a divisive and moralistic, selfish
attitude to the world at large.
Having said all of that, I hope both you
and I are wrong, and that Atheism becomes
the norm. Too much destruction and hate
is done in the name of any religion.
