Much like you have new message number indicator beside Inbox (example
Inbox (12) ), is it possible to have that same new msg indicator in
All Mail? I filter certain messages to skip the inbox (to go to
Archive directly). So, is there a way to do this?

I don't think so. But if you apply a label to the messages in the
filter, you'll see the unread message count in the label listing on
the lower left of the screen.

Thanks, it's very good observation. But I discovered that Gmail
Notifier extension for Firefox has the option to notify about email
outside Inbox. Thanks for your help.
