I've noticed as I track a thread that all of the sudden the title gets changed. I'm not exactly sure how this happens. I'm guessing it happens when someone replies via email. If you are replying via email, please don't change the subject in the subject line, and if your replying via email make sure that it doesn't have "re:" before... more »

Dilemma
A short while ago I read an old book and it put me for a dilemma. I Quote: 'You are the captain of a ship, you cross the ocean. Then you have to replace different parts of the boat. First you change the rudder after a while you replace the sail then the mast. After a long time you changed all the parts.... more »

Quantum Dream Travel
Are we experiencing quantum travel in our dreams? Sometimes I wonder, when I dream and it feels as if I am physically in another place if that dream is a manifestation of my subconscious mind or if I am experiencing a consciousness in a parallel universe or within another dimension of our own universe. Recently astronomers... more »

the scientific mind's eye
Over many years I have seen "scientists" who are blithely unaware that they use their knowledge just to be "superior" to others. Arties do this as well - one simply has to see things in a more sophisticated manner than the hoi poloi darling! There are many lessons we always seem to have to learn time and time again. A key feature of the... more »

Financial madness
I had a last night out in my "local". The place is owned by an outfit called Punch Taverns - which also owns the next two boozers. I'm going on the wagon because I have a lot of work to do. A few last drinks with people I've known for years seemed a simple enough thing. Yet Punch Taverns is owned by a Sovereign Investment Agency (or set of... more »

what I'm feeling about the Olympics
I just joined a global handshake, beginning with the Dalai Lama in London and going all around the world to the Beijing Olympics -- I thought you might like to join in too. Read the email below if you want to see what this is about, and get involved! ---------------------- Dear friends, As the Beijing Olympics begin, the world looks on with mixed emotions. This is a moment which should bring us closer together, and Chinese citizens deserve their excitement -- but the Chinese government still has not opened meaningful dialogue on Tibet, or changed its stance on Burma, Darfur and other pressing issues.... more »

number without numbers
A recent Australian study investigated the number skills of children from two Indigenous communities - a group of Warlpiri speakers in the Tanami Desert, north west of Alice Springs, and Anindilyakawa speakers from Groote Eylandt in the Gulf of Carpentaria - and a group of Indigenous preschool children from Melbourne. It found that even... more »

A Dark Night Brings Commitment to Life
Many of us, because of a critical illness, suicidal depression or life threatening accident, have been faced with having to recommit to life to go on living. Sometimes the road back is long and arduous. It raises questions about God and faith, the engine behind achievement, and the persistence of love, divine and human. What brings us to this... more »

I SEE MYSELF IN MIRROR
Being a Chinese guy, I started to think about what are Chinese philosophies in comparision with western philosophies,Based upon God. Chinese might be regarded as the cleverest people in the world, or the most stupid people. The reasons, are very simple,Chinese philosophers often see wisdom from nature, looking at a tree from come-out to damp-... more »
